Why Cashmere

Why Choose Cashmere

Cashmere is one of the most luxurious natural fibres in the world — soft, light and beautifully warm. Sourced from the fine undercoat of cashmere goats, it has been treasured for centuries for its exceptional softness and natural insulation. Each fibre is around one-sixth the width of human hair, creating that unmistakable silky feel that defines true cashmere.

Despite being incredibly lightweight, cashmere offers remarkable warmth and breathability. It naturally adapts to your body temperature — keeping you cosy when it’s cold, yet cool and comfortable indoors. The result is knitwear that feels indulgent to wear and looks timelessly elegant, season after season.

Why we use Recycled Cashmere

Recycled cashmere is luxury with a lighter footprint — offering all the softness and warmth of virgin cashmere, but with far less environmental impact. By recovering and respinning pre- and post-consumer cashmere fibres, this process gives existing materials a new life and keeps valuable fibres in circulation.

Each garment retains that signature cloud-soft feel and natural drape that cashmere is known for — light, insulating and breathable. The difference lies in the story: instead of starting from new fibre, recycled cashmere begins with carefully sorted, cleaned and respun yarn, reducing the need for new raw materials and lowering CO₂ emissions, water use and waste.

At 23 Foxes, we choose recycled cashmere for its quiet sustainability — combining luxury with responsibility. Every piece is a reminder that true quality lasts, and beautiful materials deserve to be reborn rather than discarded.

Materials

Our recycled cashmere yarns are sourced through responsible supply chains that prioritise transparency and minimal impact. They are made by blending pre-consumer offcuts and post-consumer garments, which are sorted by colour to avoid unnecessary re-dyeing, then shredded and spun into new yarn.

Why Recycled Cashmere Matters:

  • Soft, lightweight luxury — same natural comfort, renewed responsibly.

  • Circular by design — fibres are reused, reducing waste and demand for virgin cashmere.

  • Lower carbon footprint — saves water, energy and emissions compared to new fibre.

  • Biodegradable and renewable — maintaining all the natural benefits of wool-based fibres.

Our approach supports a more circular fashion system — less waste, more longevity, and premium quality made to last.
